DW: Did they check the robots gloves for metal?
Influencer Frankie LaPenna stepped into a boxing ring in San Francisco to face a six-foot-tall robot, and the match did not go quite as well as he might have hoped. The robot, which had glowing red eyes and looked like something from a "Terminator" movie, faced LaPenna in what organizers called the first human-versus-robot boxing match.
Frankie landed a few punches early and managed to knock the machine backward, but the robot soon took control and began landing punches and kicks of its own. The fight was organized by U.S. robotics company REK to promote a virtual reality game that lets people battle robots controlled from a distance. Spectators watched as LaPenna went from holding his own against the machine to taking a beating in the ring.
