Hello…my name is Don Walker…you killed my father…prepare to…sorry, wrong dialogue. I’m Don Walker, your afternoon guy here on ROV. I am a Roanoke native, growing up most of my life in Vinton. I went to school at William Byrd, GO TERRIERS!, and Virginia Tech, GO HOKIES! And I’ve dabbled in a few radio stations here in Roanoke, Lynchburg, and the NRV. If you don’t remember, that’s OK, neither do I.

I am happily married, though she might argue with that, and have 5 (YES FIVE!) wonderful children between the ages of 2 and 17. My oldest daughter is Autistic and, between fighting the school system for help and learning new ways to approach problems, I wouldn’t change ONE thing about her. Except her cleaning skills. Her room looks like the Bedford Dump after a hard rain. HA!

My parents live with us in Forest, VA. My Mom has late stage Alzheimer’s and my dad needs help taking care of her. I have learned so much about love (he refuses to put her into a home) and this dreadful disease that robs our loved ones of their mind and body. If you have the time, reach out to any friends that might be going through this and maybe research what this disease does to the human body and spirit, not only for the person with the disease but the family members as well. If there are any Alzheimer’s events around town, you will see us there!

Every weekday it will be my honor to wrap up your workday and get you home with the Commercial Free Drive at 5. Between you and me, we might actually learn something, win something, or at least have a chuckle at my expense. Make sure to use the Talk Back feature on the iHeartRadio App or email me something you want to hear, maybe tell me a story, or just drop me a line saying hi. No Spam please. My doctor told me to cut that out of my diet…high cholesterol and all. As a wise man once said, let the good times roll!

PS – If you have any Reese’s Peanut Butter cups sitting around, I will take them. They complete me.
