DW: Makes sense since both bring you closer to God...
A Wichita Falls, Texas woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for mailing synthetic cannabinoids and other drugs into Texas state prisons, concealed inside Bibles and other religious materials. Henna Havila Martinez pleaded guilty to the smuggling scheme, which came to light after staff at a state prison noticed leather-covered Bibles arriving with pages that were heavily saturated with an unknown substance that tested positive for synthetic cannabinoids.
Investigators traced the packages to an Office Depot in Wichita Falls, where surveillance footage showed Martinez using the self-checkout to mail the packages. She was caught sending three packages containing a combined 360 grams of synthetic cannabinoids to inmates. A search of her home turned up an additional 4.9 pounds of synthetic cannabinoids in liquid, powder, and sheet form. Officials said drugs smuggled through the mail endanger both inmates and prison staff, and praised the vigilance of staff and investigators for stopping the scheme.
