DW: Honestly, it makes TOTAL sense...
Scientists in China had a clever idea: since pediatricians spend their careers surrounded by sick kids, maybe their blood holds something special. Researchers drew blood from ten experienced children's doctors and found they had RSV antibody levels three times higher than average. From that blood, they identified three powerful antibodies that could fight RSV and a related virus called hMPV, which causes colds and can be dangerous for young children.
In animal tests, the antibodies blocked infection on their own and worked even better in combination. One antibody was effective against both viruses. The antibodies were up to 25 times more potent than treatments currently on the market, and researchers hope to eventually develop them into treatments or preventatives for humans.
