UK firm Cloud Climax has unveiled what it bills as the world’s costliest robot companion: the X04-SYNC2 “AI girlfriend.“ The life-size doll runs ChatGPT-style software, recognizes faces with hidden cameras, speaks English, Chinese, Russian, and Korean, and can even pour coffee with motorized arms. Buyers customize the robot’s hair, voice, and wardrobe through a phone app and steer the bot over Wi-Fi. It costs around $89-thousand dollars, which may help account for its sales performance.
Only three units have sold since its 2024 launch, but orders are now rising as some lonely consumers look for high-tech company. A budget sister model named Emma costs around $4,500 but lacks the premium robot’s metal skeleton and language skills. Designers admit their creations still cannot show real emotions, but influencers such as Spain’s virtual star Aitana Lopez suggest digital partners are edging from science fiction into everyday life…as long as you have a ton of cash.
