DW: Which is coming first: zombie apocalypses or robot revolution?
An 88-year-old woman in Pilsen, Czech Republic, was nearly buried alive after being mistakenly declared dead. Her 87-year-old husband found her unresponsive one morning and called emergency services. The coroner arrived, examined her, and said she was dead because she wasn’t moving or breathing. Funeral workers then took her body to prepare it for burial and placed her in a coffin, which wound up being premature.
To their shock, she opened her eyes and started signs of breathing while in the coffin. The workers quickly got help, and she was taken to a hospital, where she is now recovering. The coroner’s office apologized for the mistake and said it had happened three times before. Three times. Police are investigating whether the coroner did anything wrong. The woman’s husband is upset about the error.
