DW: Is Alka Seltzer involved?
What does it do to property values when the birds start exploding? In Richmond, California, residents are confused because birds seem to be “exploding” in their neighborhood. Over 50 dead birds, mostly pigeons, have been found near one power line since last month.
At first, folks thought faulty power lines were electrocuting the birds, but Pacific Gas & Electric checked and found no issues, and then it gets weird. On Monday, necropsies on two birds showed they weren’t shocked but had injuries suggesting someone might be harming them on purpose. Authorities are leaning towards a pellet gun, BB gun or a slingshot as the weapon used.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is now investigating the blown-up birds.
