A recent study from Mass General Brigham suggests that for night shift workers, eating only during daytime hours may help reduce heart health risks associated with their schedules. The researchers say that aligning your meal times with the body’s natural circadian rhythms could help prevent some of the cardiovascular problems brought on by shift work.
The research involved 20 healthy young participants in a controlled two-week in-patient study. They were subjected to simulated night work conditions and divided into two groups: one that ate during both night and day, and another that ate only during daytime. The group that limited their eating to daytime did not experience the increase in cardiovascular risk factors observed in the group that ate during both periods.
