Super Nintendos From The 90s Are Running Faster As They Get Older

DW: How. Many. Times. Do I need to tell you about the robot revolution? This is how they getcha!

As you age, you start to notice you’re slowing down. Well, unless you’re a Super Nintendo, apparently. Recent observations indicate that some Super Nintendo Entertainment System consoles are experiencing increased speeds in their Audio Processing Units as they age. Specifically, the Audio Processing Units are working faster as they get older, leading to higher-pitched sound from the games.

The technical reason scientists have found is that the ceramic resonator the system uses increases in frequency as they get older. That sounds scientific, but they’re still not exactly sure why it’s happening. Just remember…age like a Super Nintendo and you’ll be fine.
