If you try to think up a list of “unlikely activities,” smashing watermelons with your thighs wouldn’t be a bad choice. Gozde Dogan, a Turkish woman, has now finally had her world record certified for doing it, though, having smashed five watermelons in 60 seconds.
This is just one of several watermelon-smashing records at Guinness World Records, including an Iranian man who smashed three watermelons in a record time in 2017; the same man set the record for stacking four watermelons on top of one another in 2023. Who knew watermelons were the gateway to world records?
