National Archives Desperately Looking For People Who Can Read Cursive

DW: Sad. And car companies could cripple the nation by selling only stick-shifts!

The National Archives are looking for some people who have what they consider a superpower. More than 200 years’ worth of US documents are in need of transcribing, but they’re written in cursive, ranging from Revolutionary War pension records to field notes of Charles Mason of Mason-Dixon line fame.

The debate on teaching cursive in schools has been growing louder in recent years, and today at least 14 states require cursive to be taught. Anyone interested in helping who can read the writing of the last century can just sign up for a free user account on the National Archives site by clicking here.
