Keep your eyes open for hobbits. No, really. Scientists found skeletons on the Indonesian island of Flores in 2003 of a species of ancient humans that were only 3.5-feet tall. It’s believed that the new species, named homo florsesiensis, walked on two legs, had an ape-like face…and may still be alive.
Researcher Gregory Forth says he spoke with people on the island who claimed to have seen miniature people there. In a book published on the race, Forth said that the tiny creatures lived at least into modern times. Keep an eye out close to the ground if you’re ever in the area, you might make a tiny new friend.
