Japanese Company Offers High School Experience For Tourists For $200

DW: I'd rather spend $200 at the "kick in the crotch" store.

A Japanese company is offering foreign tourists a unique opportunity to experience a day in the life of a Japanese high school student for 30-thousand yen (around $200). The program, called “Your High School,” immerses visitors in Japan’s school culture, including activities like calligraphy, history lessons, and physical education. Participants can wear traditional sailor uniforms or suits and even try out kimonos and samurai sword training. Classes are taught in English, making the experience accessible to international visitors.

The program includes quirky touches that bring Japanese school life to life. For instance, physical education classes may be disrupted by “naughty students” representing Japan’s Yanki subculture, which challenges school norms. Between lessons, visitors take part in disaster drills and enjoy games like tug of war. Before the day ends, participants help clean the classroom—a Japanese tradition emphasizing teamwork and responsibility—and receive a graduation certificate.

This program has gained popularity on social media, with users praising its creativity and appeal. Many see it as a chance to connect with Japanese culture in a fun and immersive way. One participant described it as a dream school experience without academic pressure.
