ALLIGATOR WITH HALF ITS MOUTH MISSING RESCUED, NAMED "JAWLENE"

DW: I am gonna have that song stuck in my head all day. Better than the theme to Family Ties, I guess.

Imagine walking through a Florida neighborhood and spotting an alligator…well, most of an alligator. Jerry Flynn, a trapper with the Florida Wildlife Commission, caught an alligator missing most of its upper jaw that was spotted on a boat ramp and took it to Gatorland, a theme park and wildlife preserve in Orlando. Once it was there, Gatorland coordinator Savannah Boan went to work.

It took months, but they nursed the gator back to health, with it gaining roughly three and a half pounds. In a nod to one of Dolly Parton’s biggest hits, staff named the gator Jawlene, and it’s already made a friend…a turtle named Nellie Wafer. Boan has one last wish for Jawlene…she wants the gator to meet Dolly.
