REMOTE AMAZON TRIBE CONNECTS TO INTERNET, GETS HOOKED ON "ADULT CONTENT"

DW: Doesn't surprise me. It's that why the internet was created?

A remote Brazilian tribe called the Marubo has faced some interesting challenges since getting satellite internet from Elon Musk’s Starlink service nine months ago. The 2-thousand-member tribe, living in the Amazon, received 20 antennas connecting them to the internet.

However, the gift has caused many younger tribesmen to become addicted to social media and p*rnography, which is worrying the elders. To combat this, leaders have limited internet access to certain hours. But there are still concerns about losing cultural traditions and increased exposure to harmful content with one elder warning, “In the village, if you don’t hunt, fish and plant, you don’t eat.”
