A California man is legally lashed out at more than 50 women, demanding a hefty $2.6-million after they aired grievances about him on a Facebook group dubbed “Are We Dating The Same Guy.” But these ladies aren’t backing down, claiming their stories are true. A Los Angeles judge threw a bone to one of the defendants, Vanessa Valdez, ruling her opinion of Stewart Lucas Murrey is fair game.
Meanwhile, nine of the women who posted about Murrey are named in the lawsuit, while the rest are referred to as “Does 1-50.” Another target of Murrey's legal onslaught, Kelly Gibbons, claims Murrey scared her when he showed up uninvited at her doorstep, with a lawsuit in hand. The women are now invoking California laws meant to deter junk lawsuits, which are called anti-SLAPP laws.
