In your dreams! AI tech company Prophetic is releasing the $2,000 Halo AI headband in 2025, which will actually let users control their dreams. The headband uses electroencephalography (EEG) data to figure out when the user hits REM sleep and then uses an fMRI to cause lucid dreams and “pursue the answers to life's biggest questions,” according to the website.
It may sound cool, but experts say it’s possible you’ll want to hold off on living out your “Inception” fantasy. The fear is that using high-frequency sounds to alter your brainwaves could mess with your ability to process short-term memories. Meanwhile, lucid dreams could cause negative effects on your reality.
