Talk about a booze cruise in the streets…Locals in a small town in Portugal are reeling after a river of red wine flowed through the streets Sunday after two Levira Distillery tanks spilled 600,000 gallons of the booze throughout the village. Video of the incident featured the wine river flooding down a hill in the tiny town of São Lorenco de Bairro, which has a population of about 2,000 people. Fun fact: Enough wine spilled to fill an entire Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Luckily, the fire department diverted the flood away from the river, where it flowed into a nearby field. Levira Distillery has since apologized and assumes “full responsibility for the costs associated with cleaning and repairing the damage, having teams do so immediately.”
