A resident in an Alabama community has been given his eviction notice after eight years without a complaint. Fred, who is a Sulcata tortoise, is being told to pack up and get out by the members of the Ross Bridge Homeowners’ Association who say he isn’t on the list of approved pets for the neighborhood.
Jayden Cannon, the teen who owns the tortoise, says he and his family have lived in Ross Bridge for 13 years and have “no idea” who made the complaint, “but we think they just saw him in the neighborhood, and someone reported it.” Now an Instagram page called “Save FredTheTortoise” has been created to raise funds for Fred’s legal fees to help keep him in his home.
