DW: Public nap places? No thanks. The only thing I like to smell like Cheetos are actual Cheetos.
If you’ve ever wanted to grab a vertical nap in something the size of a phone booth, there’s a product for you. A Japanese firm has revealed a new sleeping type of pod that employees can use at work. Dubbed “Giraffenap,” the vertical pod has people sleeping upright, like the long-necked animal it’s named after. The ventilated pod contains a series of platforms for your feet, knees, and butt while blocking out noise from the outside.
The company, Koyoju Plywood Corporation, invites potential customers to “Take a nap while standing and recover your mind and body in a short time.” They recommend a nap time of no more than 20 minutes so it doesn't interfere with sleeping at night. Though the cost of the contraption is unclear, the company hopes to put its pods in both workplaces and cafes around the country. Happy napping!
