See Roger Waters Dedicate "Wish You Were Here" To WikiLeaks' Julian Assange

Roger Waters lent a classic Pink Floyd song to the pro-Julian Assange movement during a Monday afternoon rally in London.

After telling an anecdote about former Soviet politician Mikhail Gorbachev, Waters and a band mate performed "Wish You Were Here" above a large banner reading "Don't Extradite Assange."

Assange, the WikiLeaks founder was arrested at London's Ecuadorean embassy in April after living there for seven years. He's currently being held at a London prison, charged with conspiring to hack into a Pentagon computer network in 2010. He's also been accused of sexually assaulting two women in Sweden, which he has denied. Assange's extradition hearing is due to take place in February 2020.

Waters accused the Home Office in the U.K. of contributing to wars in the Middle East and the Syrian refugee crisis, which he wrote about on his latest solo album, Is This the Life We Really Want? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bassist even reportedly helped rescue two Syrian children from ISIL last fall.

Waters has done little performing since his 'Us + Them' world tour wrapped up last year, with the exception of a guest appearance with Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason's band.

A concert film for 'Us + Them' is due in theaters this October. Waters has been releasing teaser clips from the concert this summer.
