DW: Yup, got Monday written all over it.
It’s the strangest and most tragic story to come along in a while. Shirley Obert was involved in a car crash on Saturday in Georgia but walked away from the accident. That would normally be the end of the story, but she then went missing, prompting a search of the wooded area where the 67-year-old crashed. Her body was found the next day by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at the bottom of a well she apparently fell into as she walked away for help.
The entire case is shrouded in mystery, with a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office saying, “We do not know exactly how she ended up in the wooded area, where her car was found.” The current theory is that she didn’t see the well because of thick underbrush and fell into it after surviving the wreck. Authorities say they don’t suspect any foul play.
