DW: I know what I'm sending to my neighbor's next birthday party for his kid...
Tensions between North and South Korea have taken an unsavory turn, with South Korea accusing its neighbor of launching over 260 balloons filled with trash and animal feces across the border. They suspect this is in retaliation for anti-Pyongyang activists sending their own balloons with anti-regime materials into the North.
While some of the inflatables landed and littered the ground, others remained airborne, prompting a hazmat response and warnings for residents to avoid them. Though vowing to respond calmly, one Seoul government official deemed the "mounds of dirty waste paper and filth" a complex threat beyond direct military action.
