DW: Well isn't that a stain in your 'holy' sheet?
Utah's roadways transformed into a slippery, crash-inducing nightmare over Memorial Day weekend as swarms of Mormon crickets covered the roads with their congealed carcasses mixing with heavy rains to create "cricket sludge."
The Eureka County Sheriff's Office responded to multiple accidents on Interstate 50 sharing photos of jackknifed trucks that lost control on the insect-coated roads, while motorcyclists were seen weaving through dense cricket crowds. The flightless shieldbacked katydids hatch each spring across the West before eventually being eaten by predators.
