FIRST GRADER WHO STARTED READING AT AGE OF TWO ACCEPTED INTO MENSA

DW: Teen Jeopardy is about to get too hard isn't it?

Six-year-old Taurian Collins of Monroe, Louisiana was born with hearing loss and a genius IQ. The first grader started reading at age two, and has now been accepted into Mensa, the organization for people who score in the 98th percentile in standardized testing. His mom Jessica Collins says she had Taurian, who she calls “Chunk,” tested three times for autism because he couldn’t communicate due to his hearing loss, but was told repeatedly that he wasn’t autistic at all.

An assessment showed that Taurian’s reading skills are above the 99.9th percentile, his math skills are in the 95th percentile, and his overall cognitive functioning skills are in the 99.7th percentile. With intelligence in the top two percent of all people, what does he want to do with his life? His mom says Chunk wants to be an NFL player, an astronaut…and she says he claims he’s going to Harvard at 13. “We’re going to do whatever we have to do to get him there,” Jessica told reporters.
