DW: <insert coitus joke here>
It’s the stuff nightmares are made of – literally. If you’ve ever been sound asleep, only to be startled awake by a loud bang that didn’t really happen, you might have experienced Exploding Head Syndrome (EHS). The sounds can be anything from a knock to a crash that you actually made up inside your own head.
What the heck is this hideously-named thing all about? The syndrome is a parasomnia sleep disorder that shows up as sounds that make people believe they are hearing a loud explosion. Further, The Sleep Foundation says it happens during the transition between being asleep and being awake. How do you treat it? Turns out, you can’t. So…ya know…sweet dreams. Boom.
