Japanese Offices Bring In ‘Sleep Boxes” So Workers Can Nap Standing Up

The Japanese have a word for falling asleep at work, “inemuri,” due to one in four employees in the country clocking up to 80 hours a month in overtime. Now, Japanese firms have come up with a solution; ‘nap boxes’ are being installed in offices to allow employees to take a nap while standing up.

The boxes came about after a networking meeting between furniture makers Itoki and plywood supplier Koyoju Gohan, and support the user’s heads, knees, and rear in order to keep them upright.
