Sixty-six million years ago, a massive asteroid slammed into Earth and wiped all the dinosaurs. New findings confirm this event, known as "the Chicxulub impact event," took place in the northern hemisphere around spring.
Researchers dissected this data from the bones of six fish that died less than 60 minutes after the asteroid impacted.
Doctors explain that the subtle differences in the bones can reveal the season based on what food the fish was eating. Dr. Melanie During from Uppsala University says, "all these fishes recorded seasonality and died exactly at the same time â spring."Â
