TORONTO ZOO WANTS GUESTS TO STOP SHOWING GORILLAS VIDEOS ON THEIR PHONES

DW: Heck, if they are showing them videos from my bookmarks, they'd have baby gorillas ALL OVER THE PLACE! HA!

Stop showing videos to gorillas on your phone. That’s the request of The Toronto Zoo as zookeepers are noticing some negative effects that kind of activity is having on the animals. Officials even went so far as to post a sign near the enclosure that says, “For the wellbeing of our gorilla troop, please refrain from showing them any videos or photos to its primates "as some content can be upsetting and affect their relationships and behavior within their family."

The main problem is that, like humans, these animals are prone to getting so distracted by screen time, that their caretakers worry it will “dominate” their life if they had their way. However, they do let the gorillas watch some videos like other animals and nature documentaries.
