MAN SUES AIRLINE FOR LOSING HIS PROSTHETIC LEG

DW: If that happened to me, I'd get so angry I'd rip off my good leg and beat someone with it!

One man’s flying experience has gone from bad to worse after American Airlines lost his luggage which contained his leg. When Michael Williams flew from Charlotte, North Carolina to Indianapolis, Indiana in 2020, he says he waited…and waited…and waited by the baggage carousel for his suitcase carrying his prosthetic leg. When the bag never came, Williams was given a check for $600 to cover incidentals. But that amount doesn’t even scratch the surface of the cost of the missing leg.

Williams says the leg costs upwards of “$26,000. $26,650 to be exact,” and that finding one that fits is priceless. So, why doesn’t the airline pay up? According to Williams, a rep for American said, “We don’t have enough proof or evidence to pay for the leg, so we’re not going to pay for the leg.” He has since hired an attorney and isn’t done fighting for the lost leg.
