Scientists Invent Electric Spoon That Zaps Your Tongue Improve Salty Taste

DW: Can they make a spoon that makes me not eat the entire carton of ice cream?

Japanese scientists say that the key to cutting back on your salt intake is an electric spoon that shocks your tongue. The team at Meiji University says the shocks enhance the salty taste of bland food. They say it works by transferring sodium ions into your mouth.

The scientists say the spoon can increase the salty taste of foods by 1.5 times, and they expect it to hit the market later this year. The same researchers made electric chopsticks last year.
