The YMCA of Central Virginia has selected the architect and general contractor to complete the proposed renovations to the Downtown Lynchburg location, to be named the Schewel-Clark Family YMCA.

Local architectural firm, Dominion Seven, has been selected as the project architect. The YMCA of Central Virginia has a long and successful history of partnering together, including architect Blair Smith's involvement on the Fauber Architect team that completed the Jamerson Family YMCA in Wyndhurst.

Jamerson-Lewis Construction Company and Dominion Seven will be working hand-in-hand in the design and build of the Downtown YMCA transformation.

Last year, the YMCA announced their Building for a Better Us Capital Campaign, the most ambitious fundraising project of the organization's 166-year history. More than $7.9 million toward the $11.5 million campaign goal has been raised so far.

YMCA of Central Virginia CEO Jay Parker said he is grateful for the outpouring of community support they have seen so far.

"We would not be here without the support and commitment of the many community members dedicated to designing a YMCA for all," Parker said.

More information, including floor plans and key features of the new Shewel-Clark Family YMCA, is available on the YMCA's website here.
