The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Lynchburg area and a Winter Weather Advisory for the Roanoke area in effect from 1:00 pm Friday, Jan. 10 through 7:00 am on Saturday, Jan. 11.
The Lynchburg area can expect heavy snow with accumulations between 4 and 6 inches, with some locally higher amounts possible.
For the Roanoke area, snow is expected with total accumulations of 2 and 4 inches, with some locally higher amounts possible.
In both areas, roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. Hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.
