Emotional Support Alligator Up For “America’s Favorite Pet”

The current leader in the “America’s Favorite Pet competition is WallyGator, a seven-year-old emotional-support alligator owned by people that operate a reptile rescue. Voting in the contest is free for one or two votes per day, but people can cast 10 to 250 votes with a monetary donation that benefits Lynnwood, Washington’s Progressive Animal Welfare Society.

If WallyGator wins, he’ll get a $10k prize and a two-page spread in InTouch Magazine, but voting is still open and there’s stiff competition. Right behind WallyGator is a chinchilla named Churro, a rescue dog named Hank, and a tamed wild mustang named Sundance “Sunny” Kid. The first round of voting ends on September 1st.
