Family’s New Truffle-Hunting Puppy Finds Gold Coins Worth Almost $8k

Adam Clark bought Ollie, a lagotto romagnolo puppy, as a surprise for his nine-year-old daughter Alicia last month. The breed is known for digging for truffles, and the first time they took Ollie for a walk the puppy started furiously digging after ten minutes. Instead of truffles, though, the puppy dug up 15 gold sovereign pieces dating back to the nineteenth century.

There are times when “Good boy” just doesn’t seem good enough. Clark took the pieces to be examined and was told the coins were valued at almost $8k. He says, “The treasure is one thing, but, the fact is, I’ve bought myself my very own gold hunter, and I cannot wait to take him out again.”
