Virginia High School Sports Won't Be Played Until December

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The Virginia High School League decided Monday that high school sports will not be played until December 2020.

The VHSL Executive Committee voted 34-1 to adopt model three of their sports plan.

Model three means that winter sports would be played Dec. 14-Feb. 20 (First games would be on 12/28). Fall sports would be held Feb. 15-May 1 (First games would be on 3/1). Spring sports would be held April 12-June 26 (First games would be held on 4/26).

"We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and support. We would also like to thank the VHSL Executive Committee and athletic administrators for their work," VHSL said in a statement Monday. "The health and safety of student athletes remains our main priority as we move towards a season."
