Arrests Made After Protest Near Miller Park in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The Lynchburg Police Department says they have arrested two additional individuals in connection with violent acts in the city over the past two nights.

Police say that Monday night's protest began with peaceful activity but then say it devolved into disorderly conduct, with reports of shots fired.

Police say, one of those reports included an incident where individuals directly shot at officers.

More than 250 people participated in the protest on Park Avenue near Miller Park and started the evening with a peaceful gathering.

Police say, eventually, several shots were heard in the area, and protesters began blocking traffic along Park Avenue, which created safety and traffic hazards.
