Rod Stewart Reveals Secret Battle With Prostate Cancer

Rod Stewart has been given the clear after being diagnosed with cancer two year ago.

As per The Mirror, the rock icon, 74, spoke about his battle with prostate cancer on Saturday night (September 14) when he played a benefit show for the Prostate Project and European Tour Foundation alongside former Faces bandmates Ronnie Wood (The Rolling Stones) and Kenney Jones (The Who). "No, it's not what you think. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer," he said at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. "No one knows this, but I thought it was about time I told everybody. I'm in the clear now, simply because I caught it early. I had so many tests and things."

He continued: "Guys, you’ve got to really go to the doctor. If you’re positive and you work through it and you keep a smile on your face. I mean, I’ve worked for two years and I've just been happy – and the good lord looked after me." Stewart was told he was in remission in July.

"Experience has shown what a big difference high profile celebrities can make when they 'come out' about their cancer," Prostate Project president Tim Sharp said. "Stephen Fry and Bill Turnbull revealing their battles with prostate cancer are a good case in point. We have no doubt that Sir Rod's decision to announce his fight with the disease will be equally effective."
