Convicted killer Jesse Matthew diagnosed with cancer

Jesse Matthew, Jr. has been diagnosed with cancer and transferred to another prison in Virginia so he can get treatment.

Matthew, 37, was sentenced in 2016 after pleading guilty to killing Morgan Harrington and Hannah Graham.

He was sent to Red Onion prison in Wise County with no chance of release, but has now been transferred to Sussex State Prison near Richmond.

Red Onion is considered one of the most secure in the United States.

Gil Harrington, Morgan's mother, told WCAV in Charlottesville that she was informed on the situation by the Commonwealth's Attorney.
