Lynchburg Irish Pub Loses Liquor License Days Before St Patrick's Day

A popular Irish Pub has lost its liquor license just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority revoked Kegney Brothers' license March 8 citing numerous reasons.

Among them, the ABC says the restaurant was not properly keeping its records, submitted fraudulent records to deceive the agency, and cannot demonstrate financial responsibility.

"When you got six charges and a couple of them involve fraud; not paying your taxes to the locals and the state, those are very serious charges," Pat Griffin VA ABC Chief Hearing Officer said.

Even though the liquor license has been revoked, Griffin said that doesn't mean the business has to close its doors.

But employees who didn't want identified said they're closed and around 10 people are without a job.
