Jury Recommends Sentence For Jason Fields

The jury in Charlottesville began its second day of deliberations on a sentencing recommendation for Jason Fields who was convicted of killing a woman and injuring others when he drove his car into counter protesters last year during a white nationalist rally.

In total, the jury recommended that Fields spend life in prison plus 419 years for the deadly car attack. They also fined him several hundred thousand dollars. 

Fields faced 20 years to life for first degree murder and for five charges of aggravated malicious wounding. he also faced five to 20 years on three counts of malicious wounding and up to 10 years on one count of flee the scene of an accident. 

Judge Richard Moore will formally sentence Fields on March 29, 2019. Often, judges in Virginia impose the sentence recommended by the jury.
