Business Summit To Share Best Practices For Starting a Business in Roanoke

Mayor Sherman Lea will lead a Business Summit on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. until noon, at the Roanoke CoLab, located at 1327 Grandin Road in the Grandin Village. This event builds on the success of Business Summits the Mayor held in 2017 and early 2018, with the continued goal of introducing new and prospective business owners to best practices for streamlining the opening and operation of a business in the City of Roanoke.

The event will share the pros and cons of owning a business, including guidance for financing options, grants, business resources, business license acquisition, and proper permitting. It will also feature a panel discussion of minority business owners successfully operating businesses in Roanoke.

“Small businesses are a key part of our vibrant economy in Roanoke, but starting a new business can often be a challenge,” states Mayor Sherman Lea. “This free program is designed to provide valuable information for individuals considering launching a business in Roanoke or who currently have a small business and feel they wish to learn more.”

The Business Summit will be sponsored by Freedom First Credit Union and supported by the Roanoke Small Business Development Center and the City of Roanoke’s Department of Economic Development. Click HERE to register.  (Registration is required.)
