UPDATE: Man Who Fell From McAfee Knob Still In Critical Condition

The man who fell 100 feet from the summit of McAfee Knob Wednesday is "Pretty banged up, and that's an understatement," according to his son.

Greg Marr fell late Wednesday afternoon from the summit of the scenic point on the Appalachian Trail, which prompted a multi-unit rescue effort from the Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department.

His son, Greg Marr Jr. says his father luckily did not sustain any brain or spinal injuries from the fall. But, he has several fractured bones and soft tissue damage.

Due to the severity his injuries, Marr Jr. said the physicians at Roanoke Carilion Hospital are still finding new injuries his father sustained
