George Clooney spent some time in an Italian hospital this week after being thrown off his scooter in a car accident in Sardinia. According to La Nuova, the 57-year-old actor was riding around Coasta Corallina on the Mediterranean island when a car allegedly didn't "respect the right of way" and cut across George's path, hitting him and throwing him off the bike. His helmet-covered head struck the car's windshield and shattered it and even broke the helmet. TMZ reports George was doing 60 miles per hour when he was struck, and he was thrown 20 feet, hurtling over the car that hit him.
The driver of the car called an ambulance, which took George to the emergency room at John Paul II hospital for "slight trauma to the pelvis and bruises to one leg and an arm." There, Clooney underwent an MRI but was later discharged.
The Oscar winner left through the a side exit of the hospital, telling reporters he was "fine." Fortunately, Clooney didn't suffer any serious injuries or broken bones. Nonetheless, his wife, Amal, rushed to his side after hearing of the accident. They left together in a private car.
Clooney is in Sardinia shooting the Hulu limited series Catch-22.
