FDA Approves First Cannabis-Based Drug

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has just approved the first cannabis-based drug. It's called Epidiolex and it's made by UK-based biopharmaceutical company GW Pharmaceuticals.

It is and oral solution that is taken twice a day for patients 2 and older to treat two forms epilepsy; Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Cannabidiol is one of more than 80 active cannabinoid chemicals, yet unlike tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, it does not produce a high.
