Roanoke Police searching for driver of car involved in early morning crash

June 13, 2018 - Roanoke Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident this morning. 

According to officials, police were notified of a vehicle accident in the 3000 block of Franklin Road, SW at 4:29 a.m. today. 

Upon arrival, police discovered that a Honda Accord, traveling southbound on Franklin Road, veered over into the northbound lanes and left the roadway striking an AEP telephone pole and knocking it over. 

The pole landed on several vehicles in a car lot causing damage.  

Police said the vehicle continued to travel southbound where it stopped a short distance away. 

Officers searched the area and were unable to locate the driver of the vehicle. 

This accident remains under investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately.
