Just added to the endangered list is the Mary River turtle. It has a green mohawk and breathes through its genitals. Talk about multitasking! This little guy only lives in the Mary River. The world is a pretty amazing place.
The Mary River turtle (Elusor macrurus) found in Australia is facing extinction, scientists warn. The turtle has a head crowned by vertical strands of algae that also grow on its body. In addition, it has long fleshy barbels under its chin. However, perhaps the Mary River turtle's most unusual feature is its ability to breathe through its genitals. #science #nature #wildlife #extinction #turtles #MaryRiverTurtle #conservation
