March 15, 2018 - Earlier this week we reported that DISH planned to lay off employees and that the company was downsizing its offices and moving from Falling Branch Road to new facility in the town of Christiansburg.
Today DISH announced that the last day for the Falling Branch Road to be open is June 11th.
It was also announced that employees who do not qualify to work from home are being let go now and they will receive severance packages.; however, the company would not say how many people are affected. Workers who can work from home will be told by April 11th.
DISH has not announced where its new office will be located.

Christiansburg, Va. – March 13, 2018 –DISH today announced plans to move its Falling Branch customer experience center to a new location in Christiansburg. The new facility will be home to approximately 150 employees, and DISH is offering a work-at-home option to customer service agents. The company expects to complete the move this summer. DISH is in the final stages of selling its building in the Falling Branch Corporate Park, which it has operated since 2000, and is currently home to approximately 600 employees. “As employee preferences shift, we have been offering more work-at-home opportunities that have proven to be effective for our operations, employees and the customers they serve so well,” said Kathy Schneider, DISH senior vice president of customer experience. “We already have 70 employees working at home in the area and we’re proud to remain in Christiansburg, a community that has meant so much to DISH and our customers for almost 20 years.” Employees in positions transitioning to work at home are invited to apply for the opportunity, with eligibility requirements such as dedicated workspace at home, sufficient internet service and being an employee in good standing. “We’re able to transition all interested and eligible employees to work at home,” said Schneider. “That said, we made this decision after careful deliberation because we know that it will not work for everyone. Our goal was to make this transition as smooth as possible while remaining in Christiansburg.” Employees in good standing are also encouraged to apply for other positions within the company, and employees who transfer will be eligible to receive relocation expense reimbursement. For employees who choose to leave or are unable to work at home, DISH is providing a severance and will make resume and interviewing assistance available.
