SWAT Standoff In Lynchburg

A standoff in Lynchburg has reached more than 10 hours after the Lynchburg Police Department said officers were assisting the Bedford County Sheriff's office to serve a "high risk" warrant on McVeigh Road.

Virginia State Police, medical crews, and SWAT team members also responded to the scene to help.

The Lynchburg Police Department also coordinated with Lynchburg City Schools to reroute bus traffic in the area of McVeigh Road and Lakeview Drive where the road is blocked at the intersection.

Negotiators are working to make contact with a man that police said barricaded himself inside a home as officers tried to serve him a warrant.
