Another round of snow is expected to sweep through the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas on Friday morning. ❄️

ABC 13 - WSET Chief Meteorologist George Flickinger breaks it down for us:

Compared to rounds #1 and #2 of snow earlier this month, all totals in the ABC13 area will be LOWER this time.
As most of the snow is falling late morning into the afternoon, the snow will have more difficulty sticking to roads. Captain Obvious reminds us that the sun’s UV rays can subtly warm pavement, particularly asphalt, during daylight. Roads will range from wet to slick spots. Roads less traveled will have more snow. Mountains will have more snow cover.
SNOW TIMING:
Snow starts between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. for most, continuing through lunch and the afternoon.
LYNCHBURG/CENTRAL VIRGINIA:
Hours of occasional light snow. Coating to 1” to 2” amounts. Mountains closer to 3”.
ROANOKE/SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA:
Totals in the 4” range for the highest elevations. Lower elevations could struggle to reach 1”. The counties touching the VA/WV border will have the most snow.
SOUTHSIDE:
Trace to 1”. Wet roads are most prevalent.
